It started with a problem
Paul Grimm spent a lifetime around nurseries and orchards. Then, over a few years, his hands and arms stopped working the way they used to. Pruning, the job he loved most, became painful and then almost impossible.
He tried every pair of pruners he could find. None of them worked for hands like his. So with his wife Nancy, he set out to make one that did.
The tool that kept him gardening
The result was our 3-stage ratchet pruner. It splits each cut into a few small squeezes, so people with arthritis, carpal tunnel or weak hands can prune again. Paul and Nancy launched it as The Gardener's Friend, and it has helped thousands of gardeners keep pruning ever since.
Where we are today
In 2022, The Gardener's Friend joined Red Earth Commerce, a family-owned company based in Oklahoma. "We were so impressed with what Paul has done with The Gardener's Friend," says CEO Eric Warren. "We felt Red Earth Commerce was a natural partner to carry the brand forward."
Our goal hasn't changed: make tools that keep you in the garden for longer.
